About Us
In 1961 a board of trustees under President ship of Lady Roshan J Gandhi was constituted to start an eye hospital for the treatment & prevention of eye diseases & blindness. TISCO (now TATA STEEL) had allotted a plot of land at Sakchi. The foundation stone was laid by Sir Jehangir Gandy , Director – in – Charge , ‘Tata Iron &Steel Company Ltd’; on 29 March 1958 and the hospital commenced functioning in 1961.
In 1973 hospital was registered under the Societies Registration Act. All the Members & Office bearers are nominated by Tata Steel.
An Overview of JEH
- Biggest Eye Care Hospital of this region, serving around 65,000 patients in the OPD and performing approx. 4000 surgical procedure per annum
- It is a 40 bedded Super Specialty, Day Care Eye Hospital which provides tertiary eye care to the citizens of Jamshedpur and around.
- Having excellent Infrastructure with fully air-conditioned four Waiting halls, Baby care room, Deluxe Ward, Cubicles and Deluxe Cabin.
- Facility of No queue, Fast Track OPD Consultation
- Modern OT Complex – having 4 zone CSSD with Plasma, two modular Ots equipped with AHU system with HEPA, Post operative recovery area and Mechanized laundry.
- Well-equipped Diagnostics and Rehabilitative Services managed by trained Optometrists are our USPs.
- Excellent team of consultants, trained from the reputed centers of the country are our backbone.
- It is a HOTA certified center for Cornea Transplantation.
- It is a NABH accredited ECO, having ISO 9001:2015 Quality certification also.
- JEH is an Ayushman Gold Quality certified Hospital, for the treatment of Ayushman Card Holders under PM JAY Scheme.
- Empaneled with more than 30 companies (Tata & Non-Tata group & central Govt. organizations as referral eye center).
- Also provides cashless service through TPA to the insurance card holders of most of the Mediclaim Insurance providers.

Facilities & services offered: An overview
